Thompson & Morgan Strawberry : Sarian F1 Hybrid at Barnitts Online Store, UK

Crops in : Harvest from summer until first frosts.

A new generation of ever - bearing strawberries from seed. Strawberry Sarian produces an abundance of large, firm, bright red fruits, throughout the summer until the frosts, from an early spring sowing. Sweet juicy fruits containing high sugar and Vitamin C levels. Compact, well branched plants develop runners before flowering, and also bear fruit. Strawberry Sarian is ideal in baskets, containers or Flower PouchesTM.

Sow seeds January to April. Germinate at 20-25C (68-77F) on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost. Do not cover the seeds. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 14-21 days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination.

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays or 7.5cm (3in) pots. Grow on in cooler conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm (12in) apart or plant direct into baskets or containers.

Prefers well drained soil in full sun.

Strawberries are rich in folate, fibre and very high in Vitamin C. If you eat 5 berries a day, they will provide more vitamin C than an orange.
