I had the same problem before Xmas. I checked out all the Kenwood machines on
site at Kenwood on line. www.kenwood.co.uk/clever/kitch en and I know that
they have now been taken over by Delonghi.
The machine that I ultimately chose was the Kenwood Professional Major 900.
I studied the whole range from the Kenwood KM001, to KM800 through to the
Kenwood Major 900. Perhaps the 901 is a new line. My reason for choosing the
expensive model was because it still had metal gears. Might sound silly but
many reports have shown that these last up to 20 years and the plastic ones
are not really compatible.
It's a great machine but the booklet which accompanies it is sparse. The
machine cost me ??394 and that was awaited my Xmas present for many years.
We bought the large mincer + sausage maker + potato peeler. The cheaper
KM001 range are pretty good and some have increased speeds, but I wouldn't
swop them for mine.
I found 2 Kenwood manuals whilst browsing through a 2nd-hand sale near
Brussels. One for the liquidizer and the other for the mixer. But they were
very old copies. I pulled a few good recipes from them. I am going to see if
current editions are available. Surprising how time moves on! Ebay may very
well be your salvation, but scrutinise the prices!
