bread slicer – Bread Making

Hurt wrist with bump?

I used to work at Panara Bread about one week ago, I had to use a meat slicer and it made my wrist start hurting really bad. About 2 days ag, I tripped and caught myself with that same hand. It’s been hurting to move much ever since. Today I noticed a big bump on my wrist on the left upper side. What is this?

It may very possibly be a ganglion cyst. If it is, it is not really serious. Several years ago I, too, was working on a project at work which required moving heavy manuals for several days. On the final day, I simply leaned a little too much on my wrist and felt a little popping feeling. The next day there was a bump on the left upper side of my wrist, too. Since it was a work-related injury I reported it to my supervisor and was sent to a hand specialist. The hand specialist said that it wasn’t serious, but if I wanted to get rid of it he could perform out patient surgery. I had the surgery and was on workman’s comp while I recuperated at home for a couple of weeks. I have had no complications or any reoccurence of the cyst.

As this happened at work, report your injury at once to your supervisor and have them document it and send you to a hand specialist. Do not wait where workman’s comp is concerned. Listen to what the specialist tells you and decide whether or not surgery is right for you. Check out the medical site listed below for more information. Good luck.
