NEWARK -- Annette G. Johnson, 97, of Newark, died Sunday afternoon, Dec. 30, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Newark Lutheran Church with the Rev. Charles Sampson officiating. Burial will be in West Lisbon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday the church. Arrangements were entrusted to Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home in Newark.
Mrs. Johnson was born Feb. 7, 1910, in Chicago, to Philip and Gerda (Rosengren) Larson. She married Donald J. Johnson on June 2, 1934, in Geneva. He died March 10, 1997.
She graduated from DeKalb High School and received a Bachelor of Arts from Northern Illinois University. She taught Sunday school for 28 years in Leland, Sandwich and Millington.
She was a member of Newark Lutheran Church, Newark Women's Club, Sons of Norway, Kendall County Retired Teachers, Golden Agers Senior Citizens and Golden Harvesters Kitchen Band. She was a member and former president of the Women's Society.
She was a volunteer at the Charles B. Phillips Library and Fox Valley Older Adult Services and Senior Services in Yorkville.
She is survived by three daughters, Judith (Donald) Nelson of West Lynn, Ore., Phyllis Siudy of Torrence, Calif., and Alice (Dale) Woodworth of Yorkville; a son, David (Diane) Johnson of Newark; nine grandchildren, Jonathon and Christopher Nelson, Stephanie Appleberry, Archie Woodworth, Karen Roman, Catherine Wong, Lisa Schuerman, Annette Hart and Kristi Williams; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Larson and Lorraine Valentine; and a brother, Paul Larson.
Pallbearers will be Archie Woodworth, Richard Hart, Pat and David Schuerman, Mike Williams and Steve Roman.
Memorials may be directed to the Newark Fire & Ambulance Service or the Charles B. Phillips Library.
